From 28 February 2019 to 28 July 2019 , Porto Customs Congress Centre presents a large retrospective exhibition, with 135 works dedicated to the Dutch artist M. C. Escher.
After the success of te exhibition in several European cities and in the USA, the organization - Arthemisia, the world's leading exhibition organization company and the Escher Foundation - decided to bring the show to the city of Oporto. " We had confirmation of the great cultural vitality that animates Portugal. Thus, we decided to expand the exhibition to the wonderful city of Oporto", mentioned the president of Arthemisia, Iole Siena.
With te curatorship of Mark Valdhuisen, director M. C. Escher Company and Frederick Guidiceandrea, a great expert of the artist's work, the exhibition shows us a creative path of the great visionary genius who enchanted the minds of scientists and the fantasy of graphic artists, exerting a tremendous influence on the art world.
Amoung 135 works, we include famous masterpieces such as "Hand with Reflective Sphere" (1935), "Eye" (1946), "Three Worlds" and "Bark" (1955) or "Bond of Marriage" (1956).
